Me Jean Farley

Jean Farley is a lawyer and the founder of FarleyLegal.

​

Prior to founding FarleyLegal, he was a partner at Stikeman Elliott since 2002, where he was a member of the firm's Corporate Group, the partner responsible for Montreal’s Corporate Services and the Chair of the Montreal’s Professional Services Committtee.

He has been practicing business and corporate law since 1994 and worked in Stikeman Elliott’s London, UK office in 2000 and 2001.

Clients have consistently come to Jean for his sound counsel and collaborative approach. He advises clients from across Canada, the United States, Mexico and abroad in a wide range of industries and sectors, including financial services, food processing and packaging, software and technology, media and telecommunications, manufacturing and distribution, real estate and retail.

Practice Areas

Jean has extensive experience in all four practice areas of his firm.

He has advised public and private companies, private equity firms, investment banks, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and other private investors in connection with structuring and negotiating mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, leveraged buy-outs and related financing, private placements and other investments, strategic alliances, joint ventures and outsourcing, recapitalizations, workouts and restructurings, reorganizations and other complex transactions.

He has assisted and represented blue-chip and start-up investment fund sponsors and managers in fund formation and transactional work, both domestically and internationally.

Jean has also regularly advised U.S. and other international companies doing business in Canada as well as Canadian privately-held companies where he serves as de facto general counsel providing general business law advice on various matters such as raising capital and financing, compliance with securities laws, commercial agreements, licensing and distribution.
